Communication
Slack and Video Communication
Slack and recorded video updates are two of our most important tools for internal coordination, project collaboration, and asynchronous teamwork.
Tools
Using Slack
Slack is one of our primary communication tools for internal collaboration.
It is used for:
- Team communication
- Project discussions
- Quick questions
- Announcements
- Coordination across teams
Joining Slack Channels
When a new team member joins, they are added to a few default channels.
You are also encouraged to explore and join other Slack channels that are relevant to your work or interests.
This helps new team members:
- Understand what different teams are working on
- Stay connected with company-wide updates
- Learn how communication happens across the organization
You are free to browse available channels and join those you find useful.
Leaving Slack Channels
You are also free to leave channels that are not relevant to your work.
Employees are not expected to remain in channels that do not add value to their day-to-day responsibilities.
The goal is to help you stay informed without creating unnecessary noise.
Async Updates
Communication Through Video
At Saeloun, we use video communication frequently, both internally and with clients.
Recorded videos are often useful for:
- Explaining technical concepts
- Sharing updates asynchronously
- Providing walkthroughs
- Reducing the need for live meetings
We commonly use tools such as Loom for this purpose.
Video updates are especially helpful when:
- A topic is complex
- Written explanations may be unclear
- Team members are in different time zones
- A visual walkthrough is more effective than a message
When Recording Videos
- Keep them clear
- Keep them focused
- Keep them short where possible
- Make them easy to follow
