Remote First

Remote Work

We are a remote company. Not "remote-friendly." Not "hybrid." Remote. This is how we make it work.

Schedule

Work When You Are Sharp

Some of us start at 7am. Some at 11. We do not care when you work. We care that you ship quality code and show up for your team.

The hard requirements:

  • 4 hours of overlap with your client's timezone.
  • Be present for daily standups.
  • Be reachable on Slack during your working hours.

Outside of that, structure your day however works best. If you do your best work at midnight, that is fine. Just make sure your team can reach you when they need to.

Setup

Your Workspace

You need:

  • A stable internet connection. Not "usually works." Stable.
  • A quiet space for calls. Background noise on client calls is not professional.
  • Good headphones with a microphone. Built-in laptop mics echo.

We do not reimburse internet or phone expenses currently. We do provide a company laptop.

Communication

Async by Default

Remote work only works if people write things down. We default to async communication because it respects everyone's focus time and works across timezones.

  • Write it in Slack or a PR description, not in a meeting.
  • If a question can wait 4 hours, do not interrupt someone for it.
  • Record video walkthroughs (Loom or similar) when text is not enough.
  • If you do need a synchronous conversation, schedule it. Do not just call.

Wellbeing

Life Comes First

Take your vacations. Go to the family wedding. If you are feeling burned out, take time off and reset. We would rather you miss a few days than push through and write code nobody can maintain.

  • Say no to weekend work unless something is actually on fire.
  • Set boundaries with clients on your availability. We will back you up.
  • If you are sick, log off. Do not be a hero.

We are building a company where people can sustain a long career. That does not happen if people burn out in year two.
